Tragedy and revenge... Maximus Decimus Meridius

As we delve this week headlong into the gladiators of pop culture, we can't ignore one of our favorite films and undoubtedly one of the greatest gladiator films ever made, Ridley Scott's amply titled masterpiece, Gladiator.
Russel Crowe's turn as war hero turned slave Maximus Decimus Meridius is one for the ages, and launched Crowe into super-stardom after the film received multiple Oscars including Best Picture and Best Actor.

Pangea created this beautiful rendition of Maximus chalk full of accessories. There were two versions released, one gladiator and one general. Can be tracked down for around $250.

One of our favorite Mondo artists is Martin Ansin, and he nails it with this Gladiator screen print. There were two versions, a variant and regular, both limited. You can still pick one up (as of this post) on the Posters and Toys site for $50 or $85, depending on version.

Factory X did this nice sculpture of Maximus as he's ready to unleash hell in the sand. Goes for about $125 on eBay when you can track one down.

Factory X is known more for their prop replicas than there resin goodies, and this replica of Maximus' unforgettable sword is bar none. Goes for about $275 on eBay these days, but can be hard to find.
