With this week's release of Suicide Squad, Batman fans will be treated to another rendition of The Joker, courtesy of Jared Leto.
We haven't seen the Joker on celluloid since Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning turn as Bruce Wayne's arch nemesis in
The Dark Knight, and that performance will be nigh-impossible to top. And although Leto has some very large clown shoes to fill (following not only Ledger in the role but before him Jack Nicholson) it seems as though he approached the role with a new and unique take on the villain. We'll see tomorrow how it comes off.
For today, in honor of the clown prince of crime, here are some great Joker collectibles.
Detective Comics #69 (1942) and The Joker #1 (1975)

The Joker #1 by DC |
The Joker first appeared way back in 1940's Batman #1 (good luck getting your hands on that one), and since that issue is extremely rare and expensive, a couple of other key Joker comics are Detective Comics #69, (which is also very expensive and difficult to track down), and The Joker #1 (much easier to find and more affordable).
The Joker Super Powers figure by Kenner (1984)

We absolutely love the Super Powers line of figures that came out in the early eighties, it's one of our favorite all-time figure lines not far behind Masters of the Universe, GI Joe and of course, Star Wars. The Joker was a great figure in the line, and you can sometimes track down a sealed Joker on eBay or at a toy show for around $100-$150.

This fantastic bust of The Joker was released in 2002 and limited to 2500 pieces. Goes for about $150 on eBay or at a toy show (if you can find one).

This gorgeous statue of The Joker is 1/4 scale and stands 24" tall, with real fabric and one hell of a menacing look. Sold out online and goes for a good $550 on eBay.
That's it for today! See you tomorrow for the release of Suicide Squad and Top 10 Friday... Batman Villains!
