Suicide Squad week: Deadshot

David Ayer's Suicide Squad releases on Friday, and it may be the most anticipated comic book flick this year (although we are especially excited about Dr. Strange). The premise is intriguing, with it's line-up of ne'er do wells and the introduction of Harley Quinn to the cinematic world. A key character also making his cinematic debut (not counting Arrow), is Deadshot, DC's spot-on assassin.

Will Smith steps out of comfort zone leading man status to join what is sure to be the Harley Quinn and Joker show, to portray the sniper with a low moral compass in Deadshot. It's great to see Smith take a leap like this, although Director David Ayer is someone a lot of people are rallying behind right now.
Here are some key Deadshot collectibles.

Deadshot's First Appearance(s) - Batman #59 (1950) and Detective Comics #474 (1977)
Batman #59 by DC Comics

Detective Comics #474 by DC Comics
I really do think Deadshot has two first appearance comic issues, and these are them. Ok, so I guess a character can't really have two first appearances - Floyd Lawton, the man who is Deadshot, first appeared way back in Batman #59, but he looked a little more like Mandrake the Magician and a lot less like the Deadshot we're about to see on Friday. The Batman #59 is very rare and ultra expensive. Detective Comics #474 is the more desirable issue because it is not only Deadshot's first cover appearance, it's the first appearance of the character everyone knows as Deadshot. And it's more attainable too, going for around $100 ungraded on eBay these days, although prices for it are obviously on the rise.

Deadshot Identity Crisis Action Figure by DC Direct (2006)

A great version of Deadshot that comes with an Identity Crisis base for display. You can find one still sealed on the card for around $20 on eBay or at a toy show.

DC Icons Deadshot Statue by DC Direct (2016)

This way cool DC Icons Deadshot statue was just released and fits right in with the line that also includes The Joker, Lex Luthor, Deathstroke and Green Lantern to name a few. Sold out at a lot of online shops but you can track one down on eBay or at your local comic shop for around $125. Limited to 5200 pieces.

That's all for today! See you tomorrow for more Suicide Squad celebration.
