Chasing Storm Shadow

We grew up in the 1980s and have an affinity for the Saturday morning and weekday afternoon cartoons that were so popular during that time -- He-Man, G.I. Joe, Thundercats and so on. We've discussed various collectibles from those properties in the past and will continue to explore them in the future, as there are a wealth of great collectibles based on '80s fare. But today, we'll take a minute to zero in on one of my personal favorite characters from G.I. Joe -- Storm Shadow, Cobra's ninja assassin and the longtime rival of G.I. Joe's silent commando, Snake Eyes.

Storm Shadow is mostly known as a Cobra agent, but the fighter -- recognized for his white garb and ninja weaponry -- joined the Joe team for a time as well. Storm Shadow has gone on to become one of the most popular G.I. Joe characters ever and has appeared in the original cartoon, movies and numerous action figure incarnations. With a hurricane of Storm Shadow collectibles to choose from, here are some of our favorites.

Storm Shadow figure, Hasbro (1984)

Storm Shadow figure by Hasbro
The original. This was the first Storm Shadow figure ever released by Hasbro, and it quickly became one of the action-figure line's most sought after figures. Tracking down a mint, unopened Storm Shadow on the original pink card these days is very difficult and can go for over $1,000.
