Famous Dragons... The Savage Dragon

Capping off our famous dragons list this week is Erik Larsen's creation made famous by Image comics in the early '90s, The Savage Dragon. (We almost went with the Game of Thrones crew, but if you've followed this blog at all you know we've already posted on them quite a bit...)
Here are some great Savage Dragon collectibles...

The Savage Dragon's First Appearance(s), Graphic Fantasy #1 (1982) and Megaton #2 (1986)
Graphic Fantasy #1
Megaton #2
Although The Savage Dragon was truly made famous by his Image Comic series that began in 1992, Erik Larsen was at it way earlier than that and had brought The Savage Dragon to life in publication form first as Paul Dragon in Graphic Fantasy #1 and then as The Savage Dragon in Megaton #2.
Graphic Fantasy is extremely rare and sold for as high as $800 recently, while Megaton #2 is much cheaper and goes for around $45 on eBay.

Megaton #3 by Megaton Comics (1986)
Megaton #3
The Savage Dragon's first cover appearance post-graphic fantasy. A must-have for collector's of the character. Can be found on eBay for around $75 (ungraded).

The Savage Dragon Figure by McFarlane Toys (2002)
The Savage Dragon figure by McFarlane Toys
This figure release honored the tenth anniversary of Image Comics, and the detail provided by McFarlane Toys is bar-none. Although there are a few Savage Dragon figures out there, this one takes the cake. The better news? You can track one down for less than $20.

Savage Dragon Mini Bust by CS Moore (2002)
The Savage Dragon mini bust by CS Moore Studios
Clayburn Moore and CS Moore studios have been doing awesome work for years now, and this incredible mini bust is no different. There are two versions, and the artist proof bloody variant with shield is currently available on the CS Moore Studios website (as of this post) for around $60. The regular version was limited to 2500 pieces back in 2002 but can often be found on eBay for around $60 too.

That's it for today. See you tomorrow as we extend our dragon love into Top 10 Friday!
