Top 10 Friday... Fantasy Video Games

The fantasy actioner "Warcraft" opens wide today, based on the mega-popular video game series that first released in the mid-1990s. The cinematic adaptation got us thinking about our favorite fantasy-based video games, of which there are quite a few. We'll admit we're not big gamers (well, at least one of us isn't), but that won't stop us from talking video games on this blog from time to time, and discussing related collectibles.

Here's a few more video-game-based collectibles, and then we'll take a look at our (strictly opinion) Top 10 Fantasy Video Games. We have purposely left off some games that blur the line between fantasy/horror (Diablo, Castlevania) and fantasy/sci-fi (DOOM, BioShock), but don't be surprised to see those titles on a future Top 10. And we're going broad here -- Warcraft earns its spot for its impact as a whole, not for just one specific release in the series, and so on. But first things first...

Another video game icon chomps his way into the Pop! Vinyl line, courtesy of Funko. Pac-Man's supporting cast -- Ms. Pac-Man, Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde -- are also available.

Zelda fans need look no further than First 4 Figures to get your collectible fix. F4F has released a wealth of impressive Legend of Zelda statues (not to mention other licenses like Metroid and Sonic the Hedgehog). This "Master Arts" sculpt presents Zelda's protagonist, Link, riding atop his horse, Epona. The statue measures 17" tall and is limited to 2,500 pieces.

This intricate 7" collectible figure from NECA features 30 articulation points and numerous accessories. The figure was produced to commemorate God of War's 10th anniversary.
