The time of the Preacher (Part 2)

Like we said before, we are super excited for the premiere of Preacher this Sunday on AMC! And now that we are just a few days away from the event, it's time for a second round of Preacher collectibles in honor of the Garth Ennis/Steve Dillon masterpiece finally seeing the light of celluloid.

Absolute Vertigo #1 (1995)
Absolute Vertigo #1 by DC
Oft-labeled as the "other" Preacher first appearance, this book contains a preview of issue 1 of the series and was released prior to the premiere of the actual book. However, since the contents are just a sneak preview of the first issue of Preacher, Preacher #1 is still considered the true first appearance of the gang out of Annville, TX.

Preacher PVC set by DC Direct (1999)

This set included Jesse, Tulip, Cassidy, The Saint of Killers, Herr Starr, Arseface and good ol' Grandma. You can find a set in the box on eBay for about $40 these days, but prices are going up.

Preacher Poster by Glenn Fabry (1996)

What should not be overlooked is the importance of the brilliant painted covers by Glenn Fabry throughout Preacher's 66-issue run (not including specials). IMHO, part of Preacher's success came from the consistency of vision in the creative team of Ennis, Dillon and Fabry. This vintage poster (one of a few DC did for the book...) came out at the height of the series popularity and copies in clean shape will occasionally show up on eBay.

Join us tomorrow as we rev up once again for Preacher by counting down our top 10 DC Vertigo titles of all time!
