Captain America Civil War Week: Winter Soldier

In honor of Captain America: Civil War releasing this week, we're focusing on characters and collectibles from the film all week long (we've already posted for Black Panther and Spidey a little while ago...)

Today we'll focus on the man no one thought would ever come back in the comics and then did, as a killing machine no less. Winter Soldier/Bucky was Cap's original sidekick in the 40's and was presumed dead - but writer Ed Brubaker brought Bucky back as mind-wiped assassin The Winter Soldier and completely changed the Marvel U. Here are a few Winter Soldier collectibles (and a tidbit you may not appreciate like I do).

Captain America Vol. 5 #6 (2006)
Captain America Vol. 5 #6

The first appearance of Winter Soldier was technically in the first issue of this series, but this alternate cover of issue 6 brings Winter Soldier to the forefront and is one of the hottest collectibles for the character.

Winter Soldier Statue by Bowen Designs (2011)

Yes, Bowen again. Can we help it they made so many great statues? Doesn't get any better than this rendition of the metal armed assassin.

Nomad #1 (1990)
Nomad #1 (Limited Series)

No, he's not Winter Soldier. But he was first. Before Brubaker made Bucky a killing machine, Cap's partner from the '80s, Nomad (Jack Monroe), was wearing long brown hair and had a real similar vibe. No coincidence that Winter Soldier made good ol' Jack one of his first targets. To bury the evidence of character-borrowing? You decide.

Marvel Legends Winter Soldier Figure (2014)
Marvel Legends Infinite Series Winter Soldier figure by Hasbro
These Marvel Legends Infinite Series 6" figures by Hasbro are way cool for the Marvel figure collector. Great detail, design and packaging.

Get excited - Civil War is coming!
